Recently
the current group of sixth grade artists spent a few days learning
about the element of art form by making sculptures out of newspaper. We
began by talking about form and 3-dimensional art, and then we discussed
how to engineer newspaper so that it can support its own weight.
Students were then taught how to roll newspaper into rods to be used to
create their sculptures. There were only 2 rules for the creation of
these sculptures: 1- it must stand on its own 2- it must support its own
