GIFS- 7th grade Graphic Arts

7th Grade graphic arts students recently created their own animated GIFs. They drew the frames and paced the animations and used an online gif creator (gifmaker.me) to finish the animation. They turned out awesome. Check them out below!

Pattern Animals

7th grade visual arts students just completed these animal drawings. They had to incorporate the principle of design pattern into their drawing. We colored them in Sharpie and watercolor paint.

Notan Collages

Seventh graders just finished studying the Japanese design concept of notan (the interplay of light and dark). We then made collages using this knowledge. Students made their designs while thinking about symmetry, proportion, and positive/negative space. Excuse the horrible picture quality-- the lighting in the hallway did not lend itself to good pictures. The real work is so much better than these pictures show!

El Dia de los Muertos calaveras paintings

The whole school is studying Latin American culture right now in their elective classes. Tomorrow we will have grade level assemblies to celebrate the culture of Latin America with demonstrations and performances. The art classes studied the Day of the Dead (el Dia de los Muertos) and the skull imagery used to celebrate the holiday. We made large scale group paintings inspired by the day of the dead.
